How It Works

The process is flexible so that groups of churches and leaders can learn together, or on their own at their own pace, usually over 12 to 18 months.

Pastors go through the material on their own, then form and lead a team of key leaders through the same material. After your team has completed the Primer, you'll have the option to join the larger CLC community of learners and practitioners to continue to grow your adaptive leadership skills and support your community as you experiment.

Cost for involvement is based on a number of factors, so we ask that you contact us to enter into conversation, and to find out if there are options in your geographical region to join a learning community already formed.

Here are some key components of our process:

All Material is Online

You'll be able to access the videos and handouts whenever and wherever you want (as long as you have internet).

Handouts are all downloadable so you can print them to use offline. You'll have access to the videos for as long as you are enrolled in the Primer.

Communal Learning

Along the way, you'll be connected to the CLC community of learners and be supported as you put together a team of learners in your congregation.

Together, you'll surface, test, and discern with God what mental models need to be transformed in order for your community to pursue faithful and fruitful missional living.


As part of the Primer, CLC Coaches meet regularly with the pastor and team as you learn and experiment. We believe that having support outside of your "system" is key. Coaching creates purposeful space for people to reflect, ask questions, and be held accountable.
